Life And Health In The Year 1000 Comparing life today to life in the year 1000 is revealing. The measure of health and long life today is not due to medical measures but to hygiene and food distribution brought about by technological advances. Today the greatest threat is not famine, but wrong choices. Are Things Hopeless? The world may seem to be crumbling around us but there is hope. That hope resides in the incredible power of each of us individually. What we think and what we do can almost magically transform society. Keeping A Distance From Religion Good logic and science require that questions be faced with an open and receptive mind. Yet the notions of creation and a greater intelligence than ours are rejected a priori by materialists not because of the weight of evidence but because of rejection of religion. Decency In our age of freedoms it becomes ever harder to draw lines. But if standards are not adhered to society is threatened by a moral meltdown. We must realize that freedom is relative and only possible if there are rules. Crime and Punishment It is clear that our penal system neither effectively deters nor rehabilitates. It is, however, a tremendous drain on society. There is a better way that would serve as a deterrent, teach criminals something and benefit, not burden society.
