Search engine marketing is quite probably one of the most complicated
aspects of traffic building.

In a lot of senses, that sentence is very true, but really, I don't believe it.

Every day, some SEO ‘Expert’ or another makes claims to a new theory,
baffling everyone with conflicting ideas to the next guy, scaring everyone
new into the game so much that people are afraid to partake in some of
THE MOST BASIC of traffic building practices, for fear of being Penalized by the big G!

Well, I like to take a nice simple approach, after a few years of trying out many different tricks and tactics, both White and Black hat ( yes I have dabbled in the dark side!) I have come to the conclusion that in order to get good Search Engine traffic, the best way is;

Wait for it;

Forget about the Search Engines!!

Thats right, forget about the Search Engines, and build your sites entirely with your Surfers in mind!

I mean lets face it, the ONE and ONLY reason that people spend Vast
amounts of time and resources trying to “Crack The Code” is in the hope
that they might be able to manipulate the way Search Engines view theirweb pages and hopefully get some First Page Listings,

HOWEVER,

Always fighting against these people who are trying to manipulate the
Search Engines are the Search Engine Programmers, Super Brain
Code Geeks who can make a spider program that is so advanced it
can not only crawl BILLIONS of websites in seconds but it can analyze
the data, and bring back the MOST RELEVANT results for a particular
query, bringing the pages which would hold the most value to the
searching surfer for that particular Query at the top.

So What?

SO,

Its the Job of these Highly Paid teams of programmers, to stop
Irrelevant and unproductive sites and pages cluttering up the engines
results so that only the Best and Most Relevant and Quality pages
are yielded in search listings, so, don't you think it stands to reason,
that these guys, most of the time, if they aren't already clued up to all
the tricks and Underhanded methods aroundtomanipulate SE Results,
that it wont be long until they are wised up to any new tricks and
taking measures to Beat it out of the listings?!?

What this means to people like you and me is this, in the short term,

Wasting TOO MUCH Time on sneaky Search Engine Tactics or even
spending Too Much time on complicated SEO In general, although
bringing some results in the short term Long Term will most likely
be of no benefit, as Search Engine Spiders and the programmers that
build them get more advance, the plain fact is that sooner or later it will
be IMPOSSIBLE to get a good Listing in a search engine without having GENUINE Surfer Credibility!

by ‘Surfer Credibility’ what I mean is its not going to be long until the
search engines figure a totally new way to rank sites, based directly on
how a site benefits its surfers more than the site below it in the listing
results.

Essentially its what they do now, only primarily based on Page Content
and Linking, in bound out bound cross bound whatever, But I feel that the ‘Responsibility’ that linking bears on how they evaluate a sites credibility is going to be given to something else, what, I don't quite now, but what I do now is this;

If a surfer likes my site, finds what they where looking for, feels that they
should tell a friend about it or bookmarks it or something like that,

if a surfer finds my site of value to them, and finds it of more value than ANY OTHER Site in a related field, then I couldn't careless if the big Ses lists my site yet or not, because I KNOW, that based on the fact all
search engines are trying to yield the best results possible, sooner or
later my site will be at the top of its field,

Don't get me Wrong, you should adhere to certain Basic Optimization
methods, simply because the Basic Principles are simple and only help
to make your site Visible to the Search engines, so they can in turn judge if your site is Worth listing or not.

The point is, the best SEO Strategies by far are the Naturally Built ones,
if its going to benefit the people looking at your sites, it will give you
brownie points with the SE Spiders too, so on that thinking the more
informative and valuable your site is for your surfers, then the chances
of getting listed well also greatly improve -

Some simple strategies include -

Natural Link Building; instead of asking for standard reciprocal links,
You Link my Homepage and I link your homepage, try swapping Content

Related links, if you got an article or page relating to a topic and find
another site with a page relating to a similar, then swap links from content

page to content page, That is much more attractive for a surfer, who is
researching a topic and would like to read a little more than what you have, and the Search Engines know this and will reward you accordingly,

More Detailed Content- elaborating in more detail on certain subjects
will help add more pages to your site, if you write about Tropical Fish in
an article on your Fish Website, then also try adding a page on Tropical
Fish Tanks, Tropical Fish Feeding, Tropical Fish Breeding and add links
to them on your Tropical Fish article, even better if you add it in the Body of the article during a Sentence that uses Tropical Fish Food link those words to page with more info on that subject
- Elaborate on as many Topics and Sub-topics as you can, More info makes More Pages makes More Informed Surfers which makes More Search Engine Traffic,

Easy Navigation - Make sure that your site is Easy to navigate, and
it is structured sensibly, often its good to have a sitemap, Itry and have your navigation Structured, like a pyramid, with the lower down you go the more Detailed and Specific your pages and content becomes,

Build your site to be the best one for your surfers, and the SE

Traffic will naturally follow!
