By: Donna Biasi

While millions of people ride on public transportation every day it‘s a good idea to always stay alert. They now have a very large selection to choose from so no one will ever know it is protection for you.

Safety on the Train

* We often see the same people on the train daily so don‘t be afarid to make friends just to chat with or to know you have someone to talk to, at least you can watch out for each other.

* Never get on the last car, you need to stay with other people just in case. The last car is away from everything.

* Keep all your personal items next to you either on your lap or behind you.

* While standing on the train always try and keep your back to the wall of the train if possiable.

* When you get on the train take a look around and check for the emergency cord or any help botton should you ever need it you won‘t have to get crazy looking for it and by that time it is too late.

*While waiting for the train do not start talking on your cell phone to your friends. People who are looking to attack you know you are a great target. Get off the phone and stay alert.

*If you ever feel like something is not safe, wait for a stop that is busy and get off, or change your seat. Please do not get off a stop where no one is.

* If you come home late at night and feel unsafe at the stop contact a cop on the street, talk to him I am sure that if they know when the train arrives he will make sure that someone is their to protect you.

Bus Stop Safety Tips

*Know when the bus is comming call the bus center and check on the route for your area just do not go out to the bus stop at night and not know you could wait for a 1/2 hour.

* While traveling durning the day is ok but at night make sure you sit up front by the driver if you want to start talking to him and you know you will be taking that bus most nights he will keep an eye out for you.

Safety in a Cab

* When calling the cab ask for the drivers name so when you get in ask then what their name is if it is not the name the cab company said say ok thanks I am waiting for someone, just for a little extra protection.

* Its a good idea to have your money and keys ready when the cab arrives, you do not want to dig into your bag looking for something. (You appear to be not alert )

*If your gut tells you to get out just ask the driver to pull over on a busy street and get out. The worst that could happen is you have to walk a little bit, but it is better that becoming a victim.

If you travel on public transportation allot you must know most ot this. It‘s always a good idea to be ready just in case have a pepper spray or a personal alarm on your key chain or they have a great ring pepper spray. It‘s worth the investment and it only about thirty to forty dollars. It‘s time for you to be aware of people places and things when you travel on public transprotation.
