Pinellas County Florida Parks -- A great way to enjoy your day!
By: Bob Lipply

If you are looking for a great city park to enjoy a day in the Florida Sunshine, look no further than Pinellas County. It is bursting with sensational parks with natural surroundings and beautiful views. In North Pinellas you have three parks that stand out from the rest. John Chestnut Sr. Park is off East Lake Road and features a boat ramp, picnic pavilion, playground and separate dog park. Anderson Park off US Highway 19 has great views of Lake Tarpon, a fun-filled children's playground, boat ramps and pavilions for hosting get-togethers with friends and family. Lastly is Phillipe Park in Safety Harbor. This park is shaded by gorgeous trees which gives protection from the hot sun. With stunning views of Tampa Bay, this park is a popular favorite for hosting a party by the water, playing on the playgrounds, or taking a stroll.

As you move to south, you will not want to miss Largo Central Park. This delightful park is located on the same property as the Largo Library and Largo Cultural Center. It has a large playground with multiple climbing structures that is completely gated so children are contained in that area. It is also capable of facilitating handicapped children. If you enjoy flying a kite, kicking a soccer ball, or just having a picnic there is a large field in the middle of this complex. What makes this park stand apart from the rest is the ride on train that runs throughout the park. Children and adults will delight while riding this fun train that is operated on donations the 1st weekend of each month.

If you are near the City of Seminole, you should stop by the new playground at the Seminole Recreation Center. This park is completely shaded by a roof, is built on artificial grass and has water-misters to keep the kids cool. With park benches along the perimeter, it's a parents dream come true! Seminole is also home to Seminole City Park and Walsingham Park. Both have scenic walking or biking trails, pavilions and playgrounds to suit children of all ages. The Seminole City Park also has access to Lake Seminole for a day of boating or jet skiing.

In St. Petersburg, the Bay Pines Park is an attractive park, shaded by tall pine trees, with a convenient boat dock, playground and picnic pavilions. And Straub Park located near the St. Petersburg Pier has natural beauty overlooking the water and hosts art festivals, annual food tastings, and seasonal events such as a fabulous 4th of July firework display.

When you're looking to get outside and enjoy the day in the Tampa Bay area, you don't have to look very far. There are wonderful parks surrounding the Pinellas County area. These are just a few of the outstanding city facilities in your own backyard.
