Mood Lighting with Candles By: Emile Ruahihi
Candlelight is best known for setting the mood for a romantic evening. Indeed, there is nothing more enchanting than entering a room lit with elegant candles and their flickering flames. Candles are a necessary lighting element in any home, be it a historic Victorian villa or a modern minimalist loft space. Candles can accentuate any space and add their fragrant aroma to the place. Homes that lack the necessary lighting elements can especially make use of candles for mood lighting. You should consider candle powered sconces instead of spending a packet on rewiring your home to fit new electric ones. When the candle is lit in a beautifully designed candle holder sconce, it can add a touch of romance to the room. In the same way, instead of a traditional chandelier, you can hang a candlelight powered candlier. This will help you avoid all the cost and trouble of purchasing and wiring a heavy electric chandelier. This lighting element adds grace to the room whether or not the candles are lit and provides a beautiful and functional alternative to a common design issue. To create a romantic glow in an unused fireplace, fill the space with candles of all sizes. For a uniform look, choose candles of one color and texture. Use several layers to provide depth and visual interest while filling the entire fireplace with light. This is a great solution for the annual summertime question of what to do with the fireplace. After its annual cleaning, set up an array of candles instead of leaving the space blank until cold weather returns. For a stunning centerpiece, place a variety of candlesticks and different sizes of candles on a mirror. Much like the fireplace plan, all candles should be of the same color and texture to continue with the design theme. Once al the candles are lit, the flames will be reflected in the mirror and soon your centerpiece will be lighting the entire room. Get rid of the foul smelling odor from any corner of your home by lighting a candle with a fragrance. The fragrance emanating from the candle and the beauty exuding from it make them the perfect embellishment for the room. There are certain things that you need to keep in mind like not to leave a candle unattended. A candle left unattended, even if you feel its position in the candleholder is secure poses the danger of reducing the whole house to rubble. Keep this in mind that you don't want to put your family security at stake by using the candles either for lighting or beautifying the home. Candles are a great and relatively inexpensive way to supplement your lighting design for homes of all shapes, sizes and designs. The wicks of your candles must be trimmed to half an inch before lighting. It's also wise to invest in a candle snuffer to help you safely extinguish the candles after use and avoid blowing hot wax onto a wall or surface. Snuffing a candle also helps to maintain the shape of the top of the candle.
