Making the switch to hybrid cars By: Dynamic Blue Link
Hybrid cars are back in the headlines. The cars are the center of attention again and there are more owners than last year. There is good reason for this and the global warming situation it’s time that you consider these alternative cars. How Hybrid Cars Work Hybrid cars are simple machines. The term ‘hybrid’ depicts the fact that these vehicles function with a combination of electric and gasoline energy. The vehicle has an electric motor and a gasoline engine. Hybrid vehicles were manufactured to the requirement for a vehicle that had the following characteristics: - the use of less gasoline - provided enough energy to power the car comparable to a gasoline car - produced less pollution Hybrids answered the above problems. They can function with less gas because they do not always operate off gasoline engine. Furthermore, because the gasoline motor design is slightly different, the hybrid lets off less pollution. The combination of gasoline and electric power makes it comparable in power to a gasoline car. Past, Present and Future Previously, too much of the car’s operation was linked to the electric motor. It was only after reaching the ideal balance between the electric motor and the gasoline engine that hybrids became reliable and interesting to the market . Older models lacked the power needed to reach acceptable speeds, so what was done was a restructuring. Today’s cars use the gasoline engine whenever more power is called for, such as accelerating. The electric motor is used during normal driving conditions and when more power is not needed. The auto industry manufacturing many of their more popular cars into hybrids and have created some new lines that are 100% hybrid. The Toyota Prius is one of the best known models of hybrid cars in production. Besides cars, vans and even SUV’s in hybrid models. With depleting oil sources, turning to an alternative such as hybrid cars is something we must all consider. There will just be no other option. Gas prices seem to be on a never ending rise and as demand increases, production goes down. This is contributing to the high retail prices. Furthermore, our present forms of transportation are letting out far too much pollution. Our planet is showing too many signs of damage provoked by such pollution. It is in our hands to do what it takes to play a hand at reducing the damage being done to our planet. Driving a hybrid is a fantastic option.
