Kids in Cars - An Enjoyable Trip Ahead By: Joshua Tamate
"When are we going to reach?" is a common refrain of the little ones whenever you are on a drive to take them to a picnic. To keep your little one from asking such questions it is better to have enough games and activities to keep them occupied. While planning a road trip, make sure none of you is prone to motion sickness otherwise your holiday will turn into a nightmare. In case anyone of you experiences motion sickness while riding in a car, contact a physician and take the prescribed medication with you. You can try over the counter medication like Dramamine for preventing motion sickness. Also, pack some snacks that help queasy stomachs. Finding kid friendly food on the road is often difficult. Instead of stopping for greasy, unhealthy fast food or sugary snacks, pack your own food. Do not provide snacks or foods that will make your children hyper. Consider packing natural, healthy items like trail mix, granola bars, or fruit. Also, do not pack foods that are difficult to eat or need preparation before consuming. If you include foods that require extra items, like silverware to eat, then be sure to include these items in your bag. Do not forget to include plenty of napkins. Reading is an excellent pass time provided you can ride and read without becoming ill. And reading aloud can keep the whole family entertained. So, take interesting and educative books on your trip. Books about your final destination will create interest and enhance knowledge so that you can enjoy the new place. Nowadays, there are many options that are available for making the trip a wholesome one. Thus, for all those people who cannot read while riding there are audio books, the version of books available on tape as well as CD, most of the times read by the favorite actors or authors himself or herself. It's a good idea to purchase a small toy or game for your child if you're going on a very long trip. Consider things like traveling puzzles, activity or coloring books, or small toys your child can easily play with while in the car. Children enjoy playing with paper dolls, matchbox cars and small action figures. However, don't buy large and cumbersome toys. With the prices of the DVD players and TV's touching a rock bottom, you can contemplate buying these as it would cost you less than a hundred dollars to buy them. If you think that you cannot afford it right now, you can scout for borrowing a model from any of your friends, neighbor or family. However be careful to ask everyone for their favorites including the kids. With everyone having their share of favorites this reduces the scope of a fight or an argument at a later stage. You can make your road trip really enjoyable if you keep your children entertained. There are some games like bingo that have remained favorites of people at all times. A road trip can become a great fun experience for the entire family with a little bit of forethought and proper planning.
