How to Survive Waiting for Print Ads to Make Profits
By: Terry de Guia

Getting your print ads from online printing may be cheap, but sometimes it feels like pouring money into a void. You have your brochures printed and distributed, and you wait for a while and nothing happens, your phones are quiet and the sales are no different. When it comes to advertising the frequency of advertisements counts more than the scale of advertisements.

Frequency and Timing

In business, there is such thing as priming your customers to make the sale. Often times you let your advertisements sit around and cultivate in your customer consciousness before it takes root. It’s an incubation period where nothing may happen just yet, but sooner or later when you’re persistent you just might find the gold at the end of the rainbow.

Belt Tightening

During this difficult time of waiting for the big money to come in, you should engage is disciplined belt tightening. Avoid making loans unless you already have guaranteed orders and you’re sure you can pay it back at a profit go ahead, but borrowing to pay for overhead increases overhead.

I know what you’re thinking though. While your advertisements are floating around there are bills to be paid and costs to be reckoned with that can wreck your cash flow. Money later doesn’t make up for money now when collectors come knocking.

Keeping a Workable Cash Flow

Posters, flyers, and even newspaper ads are good for building a critical mass of consumers in the long term. But when you need sales to let you survive long enough to get to the payoff, you should engage in direct-marketing that has a faster return on investment.

Direct-mail-marketing for instance with coupons and limited time offers create an urgency for your customers to buy sooner rather than later. And because it is targeted, you can be more calculating when it comes to the time it will reach the customer and the amount of allowance you can give for their response.

And while you have this time in your hands, take it to network for potential dealers and sub-dealers of your products. If you’re working on a service industry on the other hand, look for related services you can partner with for commissions. When absolutely necessary, agree to subcontracted freelance jobs. Make sure though that it doesn’t compromise your positioning or brand name.

Always be on the Look out for Suppliers with Competitive Pricing

During the fast paced process of putting your business plan to action, you may have settled for the most affordable supplier around. At this point when you gained more wisdom about your business and seen the strengths and weakness of your chosen supplier, you can scout around for the best services.

On the onset, cheap maybe the primary consideration, but as you go along there maybe values you need from your suppliers like dependability, convenience, and customer service in addition to being cheap. You can for instance use online printing for your marketing materials because of the convenience it offers and the big discount you get for bulk orders.
