How often depends on various factors, but it is something that has to be done. An over full septic may crack or back up into your home. You will need to hire a professional to handle this issue. - Cracks: Sometimes it can be hard to determine if there are cracks in your septic. If you regularly maintain your system, though, you should be able to tell if something is wrong. If you end up with a crack you will need to have it repaired as soon as possible. This is because waste could seep out and contaminant your water supply. - Replacement: Occasionally, you may come across a septic that needs replaced. This is likely a problem you will have if you own an older home. You may need to replace it because of damage or it may be too small or regulations may have changed and require you to update. Whatever the reason, your replacement needs to be handled by a professional.
