English Premiership 06/07 - Early Season Indications By: Stuart Couser
The English Premiership is arguably the best domestic football league in the world. Not only is the league the richest but most people will tell you it is the most exciting. Last year seen the the mega rich Londoners from Chelsea taking the championship but how isthe season starting to pan out. This year the early pacesetters are Manchester United who are having the best start to a premiership campaign in years. so far 4 wins out of 4 for the boys who are notoriously slow starters. Hot on there heals are Portsmouth who after 4 games have yet to conceed a goal. This could be something to do with the signing of SolCampbell in the close season from Arsenal. Last Years Champions Chelsea are sitting in fourth position having lost only 1 game away to Middlesbrough. Chelsea look good and are sure to be the team who everyone needs to challenge. Since brining in Martin O'Neill , Aston Villa have pushed themselves up to fifth position. This I would suggest is a little too high for there seasons position and they should slip back a few places. Last years 3rd team Liverpool have made a rather poor start, losing 1 and drawing 1 of there first 3 games. Liverpool should get back on track and expect them to be challenging a Manchester United and Arsenal at the top of the table. Arsenal have had an even stickier start to the season, drawing 2 and losing 1 of there first 3 games. New signing have been made and Arsenal are expected to turn the corner. On the relegation front he favourites for the drop must be the 3 teams who came in to the Premiership. Off the 3 Reading have got of tothe greatest Start with 6 points from 4 game. Sheffield United and Watford are both sitting in the relegationzone but both managers are content with the teams performance and are sure that points will be coming there way soon enough. Blackburn have made the slowest start for established Premiership teams only picking up the 2 points from four games. Mark Hughes must has some concerns over his teams early season form. I think Watford along with Blackburn will struggle this year but it willbe another season inthe premiership for both Reading and Sheffield utd.
