Edible Delights: Food for Parties By: Natalie Delfos
The focal point of a party is food. Even the most boring event can be turned into a roaring success with fantastic food. All you need to do is choose the correct dishes and you will have a party that is the highlight of your local social scene and the talk of the town. The first thing to do is select a theme for your party, which can be as simple as a superhero theme for a child's birthday party or a sophisticated theme for an elegant evening party. If you decide on the theme in accordance with the occasion you will have no difficulty in choosing the menu. Of course, the theme of the party must cater to the overall feel for the party. You must determine whether you want a fun and casual party or a high culture and elegant theme. Once you're through with the theme selection for the party then next task is to schedule the time and day for the party. Timing is of essence in a party, so be sure that you don't ask your guests to turn up for a dinner at five or host a tea party in the evening. Even the menu has to be decided in accordance with the time. For example if a party is scheduled for seven in the evening the guest will expect drinks and cocktails. While a gathering that takes place at eleven in the morning is kind of a party mixed with breakfast and lunch. In these kinds of parties people are offered the options to either opt for lunch or breakfast. Additionally, take care to choose your menu to your guests. If you are expecting children, foi gras and snails should not be on your menu. On the other hand, if you are expecting adults for a high brow dinner, macaroni and cheese should not be served. Ensuring you choose menu options relative to the scale of the function will ensure your party’s success with your guests. It's part of party etiquette to choose the favorite menu of the person in whose honor you are throwing a specific party like a birthday, shower, or anniversary party. Serve that person's signature beverage and his or her favorite foods or desserts. It is advisable to choose single hand clean food if it's a cocktail party. Choosing raw and heavy food may lead to a messier and dirty looking place. Despite the fact that Buffalo wings can be had at a single go still they can prove to be very chaotic for guests to eat. Instead of them always go in for mini pie or meat and cheese on nuts or small sandwiches. They are much neater and yummier fare. Your dessert should be stunning. Many parties now feature a variety of desserts instead of a single, main attraction. Even brides are having miniature wedding cakes for each guest instead of the large traditional cake. Your party is what you make of it. Regardless the style of your party, its success depends on the choice of the food you serve. All else is secondary. Your guests will soon forget the color linens you used or the purpose of the party, but they will remember the delicious roast or smooth cocktail for a long time.
