Cheerleading – from pom poms to unbelievable air stunts.
By: Rick Martin

Cheerleading became a separate sport in 1880 and by 1940’s it was mainly a female activity. Commonly used as a way to stimulate the school spirit, cheerleading became more competitive with more difficult stunts and the incorporation of gymnastic movements.

Teenagers trained intensively in order to execute their stunts properly and effectively. The sport of cheerleading started indeed with pom poms and clapping but it ended up with intricate, gymnastic routines. Being not only a very time consuming sport, cheerleading involves stunts that can be performed only with the supervision of an expert.

The expansion of the Internet helped the cheerleading business a lot. People were able to receive accurate information, to check on the latest trends in the industry and to find out more about risk injuries. A cheerleader website well-put includes detailed information about how to execute basic or advances stunts, guides for tryouts in order to outshine the competition, routines and requirements for cheerleading squads.

An organized cheerleader website should raise awareness about risk injuries. Cheerleading is considered one of the most dangerous sports in terms of safety. Catastrophic injuries can lead to permanent paralysis while minor injuries can result in long-term hospital care. Designers hired to put up a cheerleader website are fully aware that any activity involving height and motion involves the risk of accidents. This is why they state the importance of increased attention while performing not to mention the safety requirements for cheerleading squads.

Basic tumbling skills, proficient cartwheels and round-offs are just few of the elements presented on a cheerleader website. Some also include advanced skills such as handsprings or back tucks. Aside from these, a cheerleader website should provide detailed information about basic cheering skills and jumps, splits and fund raising events.

Tutorials presented on a cheerleader website are trying to underline how important it is to take one skill at a time and learn each completely before moving to the next skill. Practice makes perfect and this is why a cheerleader should practice constantly. Also, it may help to have an instructor present especially when learning advanced tumbling skills in order to execute them correctly and prevent possible injuries.

Many young girls go online and browse a cheerleader website in order to find out more about how to execute jumps. They are really eager to find out more about the spread eagle, the toe-touch, front hurdler, right and left herkie. Toe touch is one of the most popular cheerleading stunts and in fact the easiest to execute. It involves making one clean jump with both legs spread in the air while the hands touch the toes.

Another important part of the cheerleading activity is tumbling and web designers are working very hard in order to present accurate information about that on a cheerleader website. This activity requires a lot of effort and complicated movements such as: back tucks, back handspring, back walkovers, cartwheels, aerials and round offs.

Cheerleading is a real athletic activity. Originally designed to act as a support for other sports, it evolved as time passed and cheer competitions appeared so as to motivate athletes to perform at their best. Cheerleading cheers are always performed energetically and lively, they are catchy and simple and they most definitely motivate the crowd.
