Bungee jumping can't make you live longer.
By: Lawrence Pounds

No, bungee jumping won't extend your life. It can make your life better though. Life was meant to be interesting and exciting
even though most feel happy and secure with the "same old same old". Bungee jumping can take a boring life and put some
spark back into it.

Bungee jumping originated in the New Hebrides Islands which now have gained their independence and are called Vanuatu. The indigenous people would erect long poles, climb to the top of these poles, tie themselves by the ankles and jump. They actually still do this.

These days bungee jumping can be quite a different thing. It became very popular in New Zealand and they take it to the extreme. There are gorges in New Zealand that seem as if they were created by nature just to please bungee jumpers. This is the best way to jump. I have seen cranes used at fairs and this will suffice but the longest and best jumping sites are located in New Zealand where this extreme sport has become quite popular.

Now, only those that are physically fit and with a sound heart should be doing this. It is possible to shorten your life by jumping from a bridge spanning a beautiful gorge with a bad heart. Even the Prime Minster of New Zealand enjoys a jump now and then.

The initial fall is the the best thrill but when this is complete you get one, two or three more that just add to the excitement. You must adapt to playing the part of a captured fish being hung upside down as if your were the catch of the day. One other thing that is quite important is to make use of bathroom facilities before making the jump or if not at least bring a change of clothes.
Bungee jumping can cost a little more than you might want to pay for such a short experience but the true value is locking that experience in your head and reliving it over and over again. It is also imperative that someone comes with you and not simply in case the cord snaps to claim the body. They absolutely must take a photo when you are free falling. This isn't for your personal memento. You have that locked in your head remember. No, this is for all others to believe you really did it.

So, try it if you haven't already and it if you have; do it again not because it will extend your life but because it will make it more
interesting.
